A British company started in 1953, Simplex Knitting manufactures plain warp knits, printed and embossed knits, and functional knits. The company is vertically integrated from knitting through to finishing and commercialization. It’s active in the lingerie/intimates, active sportswear/activewear, and technical fabrics markets. Its collections include innovative, high-quality Simplex knits (mouldable polyester fabrics, printed or embossed polyesters, and polyamides with a very soft hand) as well as satins, charmeuses, tulles, and mesh fabrics. Simplex has earned a solid reputation in fine-gauge knits, lightweight stretch or rigid fabrics, and technical knits featuring well-known brand names (Lycra®, Coolmax®, Coolplus®, and Novarel®).
The company boasts six Simplex knitting machines, 11 warp knitting machines, two Beam machines, five inkjet printing machines, and two sampling machines. Its test laboratory is extremely advanced. The company’s largest factory with 35 employees is in the United Kingdom. Two other manufacturing facilities, one in China and the other in Sri Lanka, allow Simplex Knitting to provide quick service to local customers. Simplex Knitting requires no order minimums for its prints and ensures fast delivery.
Exports represent 80 percent of sales. Simplex sells its products in Europe, China, and the United States. Its customers include Wacoal, Aimer, Panache, and Soma.
